Tadeo Exclusive Minimaland Interview

Tadeo  is one of the techno kings in Madrid. His career has been influenced by various branches of electronic music, especially by Detroit techno and Christian Vogel, Neil Landstrum, Plastikman and Jeff Mills productions. In his first stage, he created together with Dj Slick the collective Domestic Techno, carrying out parties in several basements of their city. Throughout time he has tested almost every single style inside electronic and dance music. After a large period of techno investigation and development, Tadeo runs his actual art collective Javha (www.javha.com) oriented to all kinds of art expressions, and Cyclical Tracks, a conceptual techno-dub label. In this second stage, he purifies his technique and studies with care the connection with the audience, trying to make this connection the principal resource of his sets.
Currently he is working with labels like Apnea Records, Cmyk Music and his  own Cyclical Tracks. He has also collaborated with great reworks in Bpitch Control, Boxer Recordings and Mikrowave, between others. His tracks are normally played by the best Djs in the world and, at this point, Tadeo is a sure value as a  producer in the scene. He is highly supported here by us and our readers and for that reason we wanted to know more about this producer and he kindly gave us this an interview where he talks a bit about everything concerning to his life:

Hi Tadeo,
How long did you begin your career?

I started eleven or twelve years ago.

Did you listened to electronic music before you started producing it?

Yes, of course, but not the techno music, first was Vangelis and others like that.

Tell me a few electronic records which conviced you to try it for yourself.

Spastik by Plastikman
Humana by Jeff Mills
Albino by Dj Hell

Where do you usually find inspiration to create music?

I’m a very big fan of cosmology and I have a lot of pictures and books of galaxies, nebulas, stars… that is my inspiration.

Who are/where your main musical influences?

Ur, Axis, M-Plant, Dancemania, Trax, Basic Channel and M.

What software do you use to produce? Any hardware?

Logic Pro, Native instruments and Arturia Synths. Rolands Sh-101, Tb-303, Tr-808 & 909, Evolver and Machinedrum.

Name your five all time non-electronic releases.

Public Enemy – Fear of a Black Planet
Herbie Hancock – Headhunter
Puccini – Tosca
Massive Attack – Blue Lines
Brad Mehidau – Elegiac Cycle

Whare are you working on right now and what will the future bring from you?

I’m working hard in a new singles series, techno for the body and the mind… and for the year’s end I have save and finished my debut album named “Contacto”.

What do you think of the minimal scene this days?

Hard question, because I don’t like that scene. Is true that i play a lot of minimal tracks, but i don’t follow that fashion minimal style. Sincerely I prefer to take a little of all scenes. About the future minimal… don’t have a clue.

What are your tips for this year? Artist? Label?

Artist – Mara Trax
Label – Scion Versions

Favorite music at the moment?

Nsi – Non Standard Institute. A duo formed by Tobias Freund & Max Loberbauer.

Who would you invite to your perfect party?

Mam, Dad, Bro…. hahaha. With good friends i’ll be satisfied.

Where did you like to play the most?

In Tokyo at Womb! club. Greatest place

Who are you outside the music? What do you like to do? How do you spend your free time?

It’s difficult to disconnect from music, and i don’t have a lot of free-time, bit i like to read books, study a little and also practice mountain-bike.

What can we expect from you over the next year’s time?

A lot of techno music, and funny dj sets. I hope!! Thank you very much.

Thank you Tadeo for accepting our invitation and kindly answer our questions!
Also thanks to Jose from Apnea Recordings for putting us up with Tadeo.
Cheers.

Prime Time – Rotor

Prime Time is a new project heavily supported by Oxia. I guess he is like the music godfather of Jeremy Carrasco and Johan Speissegger, he bet on them and it is in fact, an excellent bet! When i listened this release i didn’t knew anything about this guys and then i read that they have been involved in techno scene since the 90’s, mostly in the suburbs of Paris. This is their 2nd Ep and the best thing  i listened this week. The release is composed by three neurotic minimal techno musics, full of style and passionated feelings, and a remix of Oxia, a guy that doesn’t know how to disappoint us. So, the release starts with “Metro”… a sick track with deep synths in a pure underground trip. A music very well constructed where we can notice  a high level of production. Rotor is a hypno track with a nice rhythm but the rework made by Oxia makes it much more than it, turning it into a perfect dancefloor music giving it a darker boost and a all new set of pumpy elements… never forgetting the original feeling. Last, but not the least, we enter in the”Acid Park” with a magnificent view to another side of the minimal music. You emerge into an hypnotic feeling of tripped acid music… always messing around with your mind. Great groove! Released on Goodlife, a nice surprise!

Robert Dietz – Jaszu Ep

We knew Cecille Numbers – parent label of Cecille Records – by their awesome first release with Lemos on the Decks. Now this German label is back with Robert Dietz. I didn’t knew this producer but his work is quite nice! 4 very seductive tracks, from the deepest feelings to the most refined art of minimal beats!
First track is “Backseat” and it approaches a deep sexy housy style, perfect to a great after hours party in the first hours of the morning. “It’s lonely the dub” is the kind of music that i deeply like! Groovy beat and perfect flow during all the music. Dub art, true german style! Finally we have “Lost Horizon”, a nice neurotic music with great variances of bassline. This one really leads you to higher mind states. If you buy the digital version you’ll have a bonus music called “Salon du Roi”, also quite well produced!
It’s in fact a complete Ep directly made to enter the deepest parts of your body, mind and soul! One of the most groovy things i listened this hear. A new talent and a very promising label is our suggestion for today! They are not to loose out of sight! Really liked their kind of music style… their next release? Kreon – Hey Jack Ep… be aware!

Kreon – Gagnant Ep

00-kreon_-_gagnant_ep-rspred024-web-2008-artworkIn our previous blog i introduced to you the now famous duo Kreon & Lemos. Since “Lookoshere” – release 19 on Resopal red series – that I been following their great careers and their unique form of producing. So this time the Greek Markos Spanoudakis worked alone… but the level of music stills the same.
It was an important element to see… what kind of music would Kreon or Lemos produce when they where on their own. What i can say to you is simple: Both continued to do amazing things, never forgetting their solid bases of jazz themes in deep organic beats!
Gagnant is another peace of art with three major musics all able to delight the dancefloor demands. “Fuente”, the first track, has a spectacular bass line and nice neurotic piano notes in the back following the beat through the development of the music. It’s in fact a great music, where his jazz influences are well noticed. You will see that this could only be Kreon… or Lemos. “Tromarasou” follows the good taste of the first, this one has a more pumpy rhythm but the heart of the music stills the same, very passionate. Last, but not the least we have “Momento” flying trough great electronic synth lines between a deep calm construction where the elements enter, one by one… nice to the late hours of the afternoon!
Kreon is a major fresh air in the entire scene, i’m glad something like this appears every now and then. Released on Resopal, on their red series… a must have!

Johannes Heil & Extrawelt & Gregor Tresher – The Double Feature

When i saw that this three German artists united to make an album i couldn’t let it pass by… The Double Feature includes two fabulous track where Johannes Heil teams up in the first with Extrawelt and in the other with Gregor Tresher. Let’s start from the beginning with “Erdbeerfeld”… 12 minutes of an amazing journey through the most delicate sounds that this kind of music can prove i This music is so well created that will make wonders in the dancefloors. The amount of things that you can feel during it its incredible, not to miss!
In the B side theres another kind of music, most enhanced with power but as well produced as the first one. It’s like if Heil was adapting to what Gregor Tresher normally does, building it step by step uniting perfectly all the ingredients that we like so much in this kind of minimal. “E” is a minimal tripped groovy track. It would fit perfectly in a set just right after “Erdbeerfeld”.
All I can say to you is that this Ep is unique cause it gathers two styles in the same genre of music… and it’s just not regular music, it’s done by some of the best producers of the world! I liked it a lot, hope you do to. Released on Metatron.

a1 – Erdbeerfeld
b1 – E

And now something completely different, Kreon and Lemos

The Crazy Greeks are our first choice as featured artists here in our new space!
Why? Well, because they brought up a complete new style, very personal that we so much appreciate! Their recent releases kept our expectations to the future high! Kreon with “Gagnant” and Lemos with his double release on Cecille Numbers continued to surprise us with perfect performances… so the future is rising for this two guys… and they deserve it!

This Ep “Lookooshere” is probably my favourite peace of 2008 – so far, it represented a kind of new magic to me, very unique and appreciated. Lemos & Kreon are at the moment the artists i like the most, and i’m always aware of their new releases. Lookoshere was their first big work and it shouldn’t be forgotten!

So read up what was said about this release in February in our blog:

“Resopal Red series are back, this time with something completely different. They brought Markos Spanoudakis – Kreon – and George Laimos – Lemos – to their cabins and they managed it pretty good. A side presents the most deep solid music made by these Greek guys. The amazing piano in the track is capable to bring you the most exquisite nostalgic feelings you can imagine. A weird track, but very very pretty. “Lyly Peeptoes” in the b side reminds me those great Saint Germain tracks. Jazzy deep house at it’s best perfect to be listened in Luciano or Ricardo Villalobos set’s. “Stalega” is also a great groove with a fine percussion, finishing this album beautifully. This is minimal art, in a total new musical style. It couldn’t be forgotten here in the mnmland. Hope you like it, i sure did!”

b2 – Stalega
