Mark August – The Wasps From Tunisia And The Silver Piggy

00-mark_august-the_wasps_from_tunisia_and_the_silver_piggy-cns027-6-web-2008-cover

Sometimes there are releases that have the power to surprise us… this is one of them. Mark August is a Dutch producer with only 5 Ep’s launched during two years, clearly betting on quality. He claims is influences are based on Chicago and Detroit but this Ep shows really more than that! If I didn’t know anything about him I would say he was from Germany duo to the great synth lines he uses and the minimal constructions with very little elements being used in the tracks. The bassline’s and heavy beats remind us Detroit so this release comes as a convergence between two different kinds of production and the result of that is a solid work, one of the bests of the month.
In the a side there’s “The Wasps From Tunisia And The Silver Piggy”,a track that really sticks in your mind, an amazing dark journey through the most exquisite flavors of this kind of music. The construction is absolutely amazing marked by hypnotic chords and a powerful rude dry beat going along the track… be prepared to get overflowed by this one!! In the b side Mark August presents “Scorpion’s Groove” and like the tittle suggests it floats around dark sounds, with a passionate mnml rhythm… top class release!

“A fable, with mystic and mysterious animals and creatures, might best describe what Mark had in mind while working on the tracks”

Tassilo – Black Cat’s Gone

bild-1After the great success of their last release – Exercise One, All out Ep – Lan Muzic is back with Tassilo, an Exercise One stable mate in the Mobilee barns who is introducing his new solo project.
True to his vision of techno, Tassilo delivers two striving, dark techno cuts that couldn’t fit better to what Lan Muzic was looking for at the moment. Who needs house anyways…! Grade A stripped down techno to light up the winter nights. Made for the dancefloor these two tracks are destined to spice up the DJ sets around the globe.
“Pulp” is a deep neurotic tool, perfectly build to be launched among an underground environment. 9 minutes of strange dark feelings with a strong minimal sense. “Smack” is also a great track, with a construction step by step where the elements enter one by one till the all set is complete! It has also a more pumpy beat so it’s ideal to any kind of dancefloor. It’s a true smack in anyone’s face. Amazing production. Lan Muzic delivers!

Burnski – Schizophrenia Ep

00-burnski_-_schizophrenia-ep-morris63-web-2008-cover“Burnski is an artist with an undeniable natural talent and drive. A comparable youth on the circuit, he has achieved more than some that have been around for twice as long. Aged 20, he was the youngest person to play at the legendary Leeds institution Back2Basics in the 17 year history of the club. On the basis of this and an immediate rapport with the club faithful, he was subsequently asked to become resident and keeps it in the heart of UK club land to this day”. (in www.discogs.com)
So, today I present you his latest work, a kind of Schizophrenic music. James Burnham prepared two quality tracks, directed to distorted minds… in the a side he comes up with a weird and disturbed track, with strange sounds all over the place, it seems that you can’t know what’s happening inside his head, SCHIZOPHRENIA is here! Indeed it’s a very nice one, perfect to be danced in the clubs in high states of mind and consciousness. After Schizo, there’s time for a “Freaky” track – in the b side – the end up this Ep. It’s another one to be placed in the headquarters of a Psychiatric institution. You’ve gotta be rather disturbed to do, or listen, something like this, but indeed… we all are!
Apart from the acid stuff that will eat you up, you will be able to listen great rhythms and pumpy bass that will fit in the tracks beautifully! Don’t think this is totally corrupted, it’s minimal at it’s highest class, with weird melody’s, for the ones that feel apart from a “normal world”.
Released on Morris Audio, Highly recommended!

a1 - Schizophenia
b1 - Freaky

Kreon – Sandwich Ep

cs336544-01b-bigOne of our favorites is back. Kreon (Half part of the unique Greek duo Kreon & Lemos) is back with another dancefloor turn on. This time he shows up on Robsoul, a french label that we didn’t know but that are already on their 68th release. As always, Kreon delivers quality music, produced in great style. Three tracks that will certainly have a huge success, already supported by famous producers like Daniel Stefanik, Nick Curly, Lauhaus, Tanzmann, Serafin, Sebo K, Reboot, Anthony Collins, among others…
The Ep stars with “Drum My Scene” in the a side. The track is one of those deep journeys that this guy like’s to deliver… a sax melody going along with a shaky deep beat, perfect to be danced at any hour and any stage. The clean breaks and the gentle recycling after it is also something to be mentioned. The track transmits such a passionate feeling for this kind of music that is impossible not to like it. Next is “Potassa”, not as deep as the first, but also with a nice flow and rhythm. Is one of those tracks perfectly done no enhance the moods in the dancefloor, with the flavors rising in every minute of it. The saxophone makes a small appearance in the middle – like in the a side – and again it brings to the music a brilliant add-on. “Torrente” closes up the release in great style leaving a pumpy feeling in the air. It’s a nice tool to anyone’s set with that special mnml deep touch that Kreon is able to put in his music. 5 start release, a must have for all of you!
