Re-Up – As We Like It

m9t34lUpon You is a label to continue following during 2010. Their releases are, beyond any doubts, some of the strongest of the entire techno minimal scene and they came to confirm it, once again, with Re-Up, a duo & live act composed by the Italian Alberto Leonardi & Omar Mazzon – from Spain. In As We Like It you will be able to listen some of the most refined techno produced out there. Re-Up transmits a certain latin vibe that suits well to the label. Also their bass work is huge, they easily create those kinds of grooves that are able to turn the dancefloor mad. Energic non-stopping rhythms, pumping basslines and strong constructions are the standards of this label, and this guys.
In “Da Boom” you’ll have a subtile bass lines that melt into hypnotic percussion with some humanoid voices that you are sure to recognize from their musical portfolio. “Journey” has a wicked little synth-line that will eat away at the techno fans empty guts, while “Pierre Et le Loop” nonchalantly comes around the corner to make everything better again with his soft spacial sounds that shimmer through the intricate sound framework. Ending this comes “As we like”, which like the other three, makes you want to get out your dancing shoes and go for it like you’re going for Olympic gold. Supported by Martin Eyerer, Sierra Sam, Gregor Tresher, Butane, Someone Else, Boris Werner, Luciano, Mathias Mesteno and Brothers Vibe. A funky solid pumping release…

Kadebostan – The Souk EP

333Minimalism is up to it’s best with Kadebostan. If you don’t know this guy yet then this is your chance, he has had a couple of productions released by Freude Am Tanzen which were awesome. His music is totally different from the rest, he is one of the guys that really inspire you with his refined productions, at least he does it for me. I recommend that you listen all his previous stuff so you can understand what i’m referring to.
The Souk EP was released by Fenour, a sublabel of the German imprint Mo’s Ferry Production. The first track of this EP is “The Souk” an hypnotic dancefloor killer, with a monotone groovy bass and some folk chords that will leave you crazy. This is more than music, this is art. Try running this for a sunrise/sunset party and simply step back and feel the love. Following comes “Les Indes Galantes” a beautiful construction gathering a deep minimal beat with a melancholic melodycreating that an unique environment flavored with various influences of music’s history. The chords in this one are really breath taking… Ending up the release comes the “No Horns Mix” of “The Souk” a kind of dub version of the first, clean and neat. Trully recommended, one of the best peaces I’ve listen for a while (already bought it).

Contorted – Adrenalin

CS1547157-02A-BIGMalatoid Records has been one of my favourite labels of last year. Their releases are all very edgy, never sticking to the basics and that’s a quality I like on them. So today I’m here to share with you their last EP, released by the Italian producer Contorted. “Adrenalin” is composed by two tool tracks that will be sure values in every dancefloor. The first track shares the same name of the release and it’s a freaky and disturbed one. It carries a really weird and dark vibe with it, it has a melting sound over the beat and when the acid stuff comes the things start to get really hot! It’s the kind of tool that I can imagine Mr. Hawtin would appreciate to his new Plastikman set’s. The 2nd track is “Lost” and I must say that this bomb is the main reason of my post, it has a great groove, a beautiful mnml techno construction pattern and it’s dark as hell so I guess night crowds will love it. Malatoid is one of the labels that all of us should follow during 2010, so stay tunned

Kaiserdisco – The Early Bird EP

CS381977-01A-BIGFrederic Berger & Patrick Buck aka Kaiserdisco have been in my top producers over the last year! Why? Well, two reasons, the first is that most of their releases are smashing hot and the second is because they only release like three or four Ep’s per year, not flooding the market with more music than they should,  like so many artists do. Their first release in december 2008 topped beatport charts for over a month and earned them a place in the beatport top selling minimal tracks of 2008, as well as the rapt attention and support of Len Faki, Technasia, Laurent garnier, Dubfire and Monika Kruse and since that moment they became one of the most spread acts through the sets of the greatest guys out there. Today I present to you their Early Bird Ep, released by Terminal EM, containing three pumping tracks to amuse the dancefloors. The first one is “Dark Orbit” a techno monster very well built, always rising up around itself that will surely lead the crowds to get wildly insane. A real buzz in the head! Next comes “The Early Bird”, not as euphoric as the first, but with a more minimal sense appeal. It’s definitely the one that most adapts to our musical style, deep groove, warm synth and great sound textures. Ending up the release comes “Smoke City” with lots of big claps and grooving bass keeping the feeling of the previous one. A must have ep, demanding us all to dance! Trully advised!

Ryan Crosson & Guti – You’ve Got Me

CS384119-01A-BIGGuy Gerbers’ “Supplement Facts Records” is proud to present “You’ve Got Me EP” by Ryan Crosson & Guti – (SFR018). “You’ve Got Me EP” carries two original mixes by the dazzling artist duo. The release marks the debut for both on “Supplement Facts Records” and we are ecstatic to welcome them to our family of artists. The inspiration for this release for Ryan & Guti came from Guy Gerbers’ trademark sounds and musical vibe, which naturally melts this record into Supplement Facts’ catalogue. The artists Ryan Crosson and Guti individually represent exactly the contemporary approach to electronic music production and performance that “Supplement Facts” aims for and cherishes. To have them team up for this release means a particular honor for us! The tracks don’t only fit into the labels repertoire superbly, but also enclose a unique mood created by sensitive melodies, thick beat lines and a superb vocal performance on “You’ve Got Me” featuring “Don Fuego”. The title track “You’ve Got Me” nourishes of the poignant vocal line that really ties the track together. The second title “Marimbaby” bears a funky latino influenced groove. Both productions build up to a solid groove that makes them equally as useful on the dance floor.

Julian Jeweil – Color

CS1541092-02A-BIGThe French Julian Jeweil is still a rookie in the music production scene, he started a few years ago with some releases on Skryptom Records and had a famous big track that was compiled in a couple of mixed cd’s named “Air Conditionne” and now he seems to have found his own way with his biggest achievement until this date – this release on Sven Vath’s label Cocoon Recordings. “Color EP” should be listened by all of you, specially if you like those powerful tracks that normally create mass euphoric moments in the dancefloors. This Ep is all about that, 3 non stopping tracks created to boost up the crowd’s energy. All of them are pretty equal, starting with a step by step construction and always rising the levels during the track. It’s one of the best Ep’s I’ve listened in Cocoon Recordings for some time with a producer that you all should pay some attention cause I guess that, from now on, there is no stopping for this guy!

Mendo – Encantos EP

encantosCadenza Records was founded by Luciano and Serafin a couple of years ago and since the beginning they’ve always had a great roster featuring their releases. Despite this they’ve been adding a couple of guys to their crew over the years and, to names like Villalobos, Luciano, Digitaline and others, they’ve added others like Mirko Loko, Petre Inspirescu and Mendo in the most recent years. Today we are here to talk about Mendo and his newest release “Encantos EP”. As these two certified burners prove, back-to-basics house music is alive and thriving. And while hes been around the block a time or two, this essential double-A-side release confirms Mendos status as an artist on the rise. He is one of those guys that creates tremendous grooves and I really think that he is the proof that Cadenza style is here to stay and to ensure quality above all. This release urges for Summer party’s so let’s hope the sunny days show up to end this rigged Winter season.

Eyerer & Namito – Ripcurl

CS380888-01B-BIGKickboxer steps up for their first release during 2010 presenting “Ripcurl” a 12″ produced by Martin Eyerer and Ali Khalaj, aka Namito. This sublabel of Boxer Recordings has been running short in terms of releases, they’ve only add three last year and it would be great to have some more, because their releases normally are above the average. Like this one… “Ripcurl” is a monster techy house track that will shake up any dancefloor. It has a strong deep solid beat, a huge bassline, a tremendous pace and, in the middle, a kind of melancholic melody to give some kind of a feeling to the track.  Both Namito and Eyerer have been producing music for a long time and always had a great sense of appeal, this release show’s all their know how and experience that has been molded over the years. In the b side you’ll listen a remix of “Ripcurl” done by Ahmet Sendil who also is no newbie in the scene. He is a Turkish producer that we normally see doing this kind of work (remixes). This one show’s why this guy is so requested to this art of remixing… In this one he was able to make it even more shaky taking a little of the dry minimal feeling of the first and making it a more easy-listening track, with more power, but with less minimal techno appeal. Either way, both are great tracks and we’re very glad to see that Kickboxer is running good and healthy.

Kevin Griffiths – Oh Yeah

beigxiTsuba Records has been one of the most impressive labels last year and, in 2010, they seem to have started pretty well, with a release from the label owner Kevin Griffiths and two remixes, by Afrilounge and Julien Chaptal. The original track of the UK producer is a quite good one… it has a great pumpy rhythm and a deep strong bass line, it will easily be a monster one in night clubs. The 2nd one of this EP comes by Chaptal “hands”, delivering a version of “Oh Yeah” flavoured up to minimal standards, with fewer elements, more sampling and some jazzy keys to complete it. A quite good one indeed. Ending up the release, in the b side, comes Afrilounge remix in what might be, to our hears, the most accomplished track of the EP, a step by step growing and a deep beat build a very good track to be enjoyed in some after-hours environment. If you don’t know Afrilounge by now (shame on you) this is your chance to listen his typical work.
As Tsuba founder Kevin has steered the label to be one of the most respected and consistent UK imprints (the 2nd most charted UK label on RA following Rekids). Recent label events include Tsuba showcases at Fabric in London and Watergate in Berlin with more events planned throughout 2010. The recent collaboration with Okain has become one of the Four:Twenty label’s best sellers and a new project with Justin Drake is to be released over the coming months. Be Aware

Nicolas Jaar – A Time For Us

CS380283-01A-BIGNew York born Nicolas Jaar was raised in Chile until the age of 11 before returning stateside. At 19 he stands head and shoulders above similar breakthrough producers of the moment. The first Wolf + Lamb release of 2010 is one of a kind. I’ve listened this track in a promo album that I’ve received from Bpitch a while ago and that I will be posting here soon “Boogybytes Vol5 mixed by Seth Troxler” and since that momentthe track doesn’t get out of my head. I didn’t think about a post for it, but since I saw it in a chart from David Dk I understood that, more than techno or minimal, our readers want good music, and that’s what Nicolas Jaar appears to do best. “Time For Us” is a never ending track, that sticks to our soul like glue, a perfect classic, combining some deep sensual sounds with a melancholic voice singing some words that suit perfectly in anyones mind state. It’s a perfect club track, like I didn’t listen for a while. No wonder that Dave Dk and Seth Troxler liked it, this is something that I can listen 4 or 5 times i n a row, it’s definitely my first passion of 2010. “Mi Mujer” with its Spanish title and lyrics was inspired by the countless Puerto Ricans and Dominicans hanging out near the Marcy, it’s a very funny one. The main gun is “Time For us” though and It’s one of my strongest advices for this month.
