Masomenos – Matou Ep

image_slide_show_new_38344The duo is back in the game. Masomenos present Matou Ep to delight all of you. If you don’t know this unknown project from France you should be ashamed of yourself.  This guys are the revolution, everything they do seems to be magnificent and this is another example of their fine deliverance. To raise the bets higher they invited another amazing producers to remix the first track, they are Kreon & Lemos, the Greek duo, one of the best things that happened in the scene during 2008. Matou Ep is filled with 3 tracks, all of them in the cutting edge of minimal techno.
I’ll start with the last cause that’s my favorite one… “One Inch a Day” has got a vocal that we all known ( i don’t remember from where…) and a rude dry beat that makes everything else look obsolete… it’s surely the purest thing i listened during January… i can’t get tired of it! The  beat, omg the beat! Unmissable. “Hands Up” remixed by Masomenos, Kreon and Lemos is the track that opens up the Ep and it’s also a very nice one, lot’s of pumpy energy and the typical Kreon & Lemos deep beat, perfect to enhance the groove among the dancefloor. “NY” follows through the same paths! … The major key of this album and the reason why i’m posting this here is “One Inch A Day”, the track of the year so far! Release nr7 on Welcome to Masomenos..

Kreon – Sandwich Ep

cs336544-01b-bigOne of our favorites is back. Kreon (Half part of the unique Greek duo Kreon & Lemos) is back with another dancefloor turn on. This time he shows up on Robsoul, a french label that we didn’t know but that are already on their 68th release. As always, Kreon delivers quality music, produced in great style. Three tracks that will certainly have a huge success, already supported by famous producers like Daniel Stefanik, Nick Curly, Lauhaus, Tanzmann, Serafin, Sebo K, Reboot, Anthony Collins, among others…
The Ep stars with “Drum My Scene” in the a side. The track is one of those deep journeys that this guy like’s to deliver… a sax melody going along with a shaky deep beat, perfect to be danced at any hour and any stage. The clean breaks and the gentle recycling after it is also something to be mentioned. The track transmits such a passionate feeling for this kind of music that is impossible not to like it. Next is “Potassa”, not as deep as the first, but also with a nice flow and rhythm. Is one of those tracks perfectly done no enhance the moods in the dancefloor, with the flavors rising in every minute of it. The saxophone makes a small appearance in the middle – like in the a side – and again it brings to the music a brilliant add-on. “Torrente” closes up the release in great style leaving a pumpy feeling in the air. It’s a nice tool to anyone’s set with that special mnml deep touch that Kreon is able to put in his music. 5 start release, a must have for all of you!

Kreon – Jack Ep

cs334237-01a-bigThe German label Cecille Numbers is back! In their 4th release they bring back Markos Spanoudakis aka Kreon, one of the producers of the year. The Greek shows once again a pack of groovy productions with 3 tracks made to delight us all.
The Ep starts with Jauce, a very funky track with a stunning shaking beat and some vocals that will turn the dancefloor crazy! It’s definitely a track turned up to sexy deep house flavors but somehow, it would adapt just fine to a morning minimal party! In the b side we have “Clorpe”, this time with the kind of rhythm that we support here in minimaland! A deep track build up step by step, with the different elements appearing one by one in the proper time. This is the kind of groove that we are in to, so it’s easily our favorite track of the Ep. To end this sweet release we have “Just Jack” with some sassy soul vocals and a great bassline beat, a house tune, once again, turned to morning party’s. It’s a nice shake but it doesn’t properly fit in minimaland patterns!
Despite the house convergence, we can’t say that this is a bad release… the level of production is well above the average and the kind of productions is somehow different and tasty! “Clorpe” is the most shiniest track of the Ep, full support!

a1 - Jauce
b1 - Clorpe
b2 - Just Jack

Kreon – Gagnant Ep

00-kreon_-_gagnant_ep-rspred024-web-2008-artworkIn our previous blog i introduced to you the now famous duo Kreon & Lemos. Since “Lookoshere” – release 19 on Resopal red series – that I been following their great careers and their unique form of producing. So this time the Greek Markos Spanoudakis worked alone… but the level of music stills the same.
It was an important element to see… what kind of music would Kreon or Lemos produce when they where on their own. What i can say to you is simple: Both continued to do amazing things, never forgetting their solid bases of jazz themes in deep organic beats!
Gagnant is another peace of art with three major musics all able to delight the dancefloor demands. “Fuente”, the first track, has a spectacular bass line and nice neurotic piano notes in the back following the beat through the development of the music. It’s in fact a great music, where his jazz influences are well noticed. You will see that this could only be Kreon… or Lemos. “Tromarasou” follows the good taste of the first, this one has a more pumpy rhythm but the heart of the music stills the same, very passionate. Last, but not the least we have “Momento” flying trough great electronic synth lines between a deep calm construction where the elements enter, one by one… nice to the late hours of the afternoon!
Kreon is a major fresh air in the entire scene, i’m glad something like this appears every now and then. Released on Resopal, on their red series… a must have!

And now something completely different, Kreon and Lemos

The Crazy Greeks are our first choice as featured artists here in our new space!
Why? Well, because they brought up a complete new style, very personal that we so much appreciate! Their recent releases kept our expectations to the future high! Kreon with “Gagnant” and Lemos with his double release on Cecille Numbers continued to surprise us with perfect performances… so the future is rising for this two guys… and they deserve it!

This Ep “Lookooshere” is probably my favourite peace of 2008 – so far, it represented a kind of new magic to me, very unique and appreciated. Lemos & Kreon are at the moment the artists i like the most, and i’m always aware of their new releases. Lookoshere was their first big work and it shouldn’t be forgotten!

So read up what was said about this release in February in our blog:

“Resopal Red series are back, this time with something completely different. They brought Markos Spanoudakis – Kreon – and George Laimos – Lemos – to their cabins and they managed it pretty good. A side presents the most deep solid music made by these Greek guys. The amazing piano in the track is capable to bring you the most exquisite nostalgic feelings you can imagine. A weird track, but very very pretty. “Lyly Peeptoes” in the b side reminds me those great Saint Germain tracks. Jazzy deep house at it’s best perfect to be listened in Luciano or Ricardo Villalobos set’s. “Stalega” is also a great groove with a fine percussion, finishing this album beautifully. This is minimal art, in a total new musical style. It couldn’t be forgotten here in the mnmland. Hope you like it, i sure did!”
