Rodriguez Jr. – Princess Guacamole

LA066-2240pxA highly reputable artist with an equally impressive history as a producer, Rodriguez Jr is a prominent member of the Leena music catalogue. His debut on the imprint “Rubbo Swingo” received rave reviews as did his return a year later for Leena’s 11th release, “Kids of Hula”. 2010 has already witnessed big things from the Belgium based producer, such as “Jerri Call” with Alex Kid on NRK records as well as a handful of remixes including one for Dominik Eulberg on Traum records and Holger Zilske on Playhouse.
Now that he’s warmed up the dance floor with style, it’s time for his eagerly awaited debut on mobilee records, “Princess Guacomole”, which comes packed with energy ready to get the Summer parties rocking. Title track “Princess Guacomole” features a melodic and jazzy hook set over a driving and bouncy percussive bass. Meanwhile B side “La Guapa” will pick you up with by its hypnotic rift which builds up into a frenzy, whilst the digital exclusive serves as the anti-thesis with a deep house rolling percussive bass line and vocal. It’s an amazing debut for Rodriguez Jr on mobilee …. enjoy!

And.Id – I Will Be There

Cover-065And.Id is an artist whose musical talents are impressively far-reaching, as his recent installment of the Back to Back series with Jazz interpretations of mobilee classics powerfully brought to everyone’s attention. After a long spell in the studio with his B.A.N.D and a variety of instruments, And.Id has gone solo for his next release. The exclusive track “She Was There” was a bomb, and now “I Was There” follows suit… but the question is where are they? The dance floor, which is where you will want to be when you spin this … Enjoy!

Minimaland Feedback: Another perfect release by one of our favorite producers And.Id! “Five” is one of those anthems that remind us the good old days while “I Will Be There” will acid up every dancefloor! “Erotica” doesn’t need to be mentioned,  a track for a hot night, reminding me a lot some Modern Love productions

Mobilee Back to Back Vol.4 by And.Id

Mobilee is back—or perhaps we should say back to Back to Back—with the fourth installment of its compilation and DJ-mix series. mobilee’s Back to Back compilation series has evolved significantly since its inception, with the second disc of each compilation presenting a unique take on mobilee’s music. Back to Back Volume Four, compiled and performed by And.id and B.A.N.D., continues this evolution with a two-disc extravaganza that is unlike anything you’ve ever heard before. While Disc 1 compiles highlights from mobilee’s discography over the past year, Disc 2 consists of jazz interpretations of classic mobilee tracks, all of which have been painstakingly recorded, arranged, and re-edited by And.id.

mobleeeThese refreshing takes on some of mobilee’s best tracks over the years were recorded during live studio sessions with jazz musicians, whose use of real instruments in performing mobilee tracks—not to mention And.id mixing and arranging—breathes new life into these time-tested anthems. Alongside this compilation release, And.id has also produced an exclusive live mix featuring his recent and also unreleased productions and edits. This exclusive mix is a perfect presentation of his live show which he is performing in clubs all around the world and it is only available to purchasers of the release via a free digital download code that comes with the CD.

The tracks selected for the first disc do well in showcasing mobilee’s current musical diversity, with hardhitting techno from Pan-Pot (“Confronted”), forward-thinking house from GummiHz (“Sleepless Nights”) and experimental downtempo from Exercise One (“No News Today”) being among the tracks that make the cut. Recent signees Dan Curtin and Hector rub up against new tracks from old-timers, amongst whom Anja Schneider, Marcin Czubala, and Sebo K are also included. An exclusive track courtesy of And.id also makes it debut on this disc.

The second disc is a ride entirely of its own as And.Id takes classic mobilee tracks and filters them through the lens of jazz with the help of his B.A.N.D., comprised of both recent Berklee College of Music as well as seasoned studio musicians. But don’t be fooled: these aren’t just jazz covers. And.id has gone one step further, editing and arranging the recorded instrumentals into an incredibly unique final product. Sebo K’s anthem “Horizons,” Pan-Pot’s lush, piano-led track “Faces,” and “Rancho Relaxo,” Anja Schneider’s collaboration with Sebo K, are just some of the tracks taken to new heights on this inventive new take on electronic dance music. But just in case that doesn’t fully satiate your appetite, we’ve also included the original versions of each of these tracks just for kicks.

Anyone’s who’s been paying attention to And.id knows he’s got the jazz in him: he was raised on jazz records and concerts and often integrates a trumpet into his live sets. What no one could have imagined, however, is how well this interest and passion for swung beats and brass instruments could
combine with his renowned skills behind the boards. Four to the floor beats get traded in for live instrumentation and creativity meets this classics on the newest volume of the Back to Back compilation, with the end product finally confirming everyone’s suspicions that house and techno are far from dead

Minimaland Feedback: We’ve always liked And.Id’s work as a producer and this 2xCD confirms all his talent. His selection of some of the best mobilee tracks over the last year is very exquisity and refined and the 2nd cd with all the jazzy performances of the label classics bring the cherry on top of the cake. Top quality release.

And.Id – First Talk

LA055-1And.id is renowned for his live performances in which he integrates both released and unreleased productions, loops, and live use of his trumpet into an incomparably high-energy affair. After hitting his stride in 2008 with his debut for mobilee “One Is Not Enough” followed by his second release, “Sand on the Floor,” the one-man phenomenon is back for a third round for mobilee’s 55th release entitled “First Talk,” an enthralling tech-house release that is as boundless as it is stunning. The A-side “First Talk” is a bouncing techy track that constantly moves forward and progresses without sounding the least bit rushed, continuously teasing the listener with build-ups that stop just short of peaking. Combining vintage synths and reverb-laced loops, And.id meticulously plays with dynamics and atmospherics with the end result being a release that constantly moves forward without sounding the least bit rushed.
B1 “Ephoria” (our favorite) maintains a similar level of compelling restraint, with stuttered house beats and melodic undercurrents that morph and shift until they transform into arpeggiated swells leading the track to its endpoint. On B2 “Lights On” And.id displays his darker, more minimal side, taking advantage of lower frequency ranges and recurrent echoes.

Pan-Pot – Confronted

pan-pot-confrontedIt’s very difficult not to like a Pan-Pot release. Their work stands out for itself and this new release on Mobilee follows the same path. The Ep is composed by four amazing tracks set to be played at different environments, but all of them requiring some minimal techno appreciation. It all starts with the long length “Confronted” that is being played by Richie Hawtin, among others. It’s easy to understand why… the acid patterns, the techy rhythm and the crazy beat turn this one into a magnificent tune. The madness continues in the b-side with “Face to Face”, running on tech minimal lines, with a step by step construction and some terrific synths. This will be explosive if played in the wright moments, ideal to dark night environments. If you buy the digital release you’ll have access to “The Birds”, far more chilled than the others in the beginning but rapidly growing into a dancefloor hit, combining some deep mnml constructions with tribal elements. Digital pack also brings “Diamond Heads”, a strong techno tool to be used in every kind of circumstances… If you like it techy this is a must buy EP, released by Mobilee. Played by Hawtin, Karotte, 2000&One, Gregor Tresher, Stephan Bodzin, Dubfire and Adam Beyer, Solomun, Paco Osuna,

Hector – Got Fringe?

la052-1Mr Hector is natural from Guadalajara, Mexico but has moved a long time to London where he rapidly established himself as one of the most exciting young producers and DJ’s in the scene. His first 12″ was “La Raza” released on Horizontal (Dinky’s label) last year finding his way into sets by by the likes of Onur Ozer, Villalobos and Dinky. His Dj sets have lots of energy, precision and soul and his day-job running one of the world’s most renowned.
record shops— Phonica in London—has made him and his extensive record collection a popular choice at clubs such as Fabric, T Bar, Weekend and Watergate. “Got Fringe” is the most recent work of this newest addition of mobilee’s roster. The ep counts with 3 very nice tracks where the main keys are “Taking Me For a Ride” and the digital exclusive “Canaca”. The first of this two is a tune marked by a step by step construction and a great deep mnml flow. The voices that go along with the beat fit perfectly in it making it a really good dancefloor joint! This track is the perfect example of minimal patterns and rhythms, it has got a slow bpm beat, very effective and danceable where the feelings seem to be rising all the time. “Canaca” is all about percussion… the beat is very dense with an awesome bassline and the rhythm is very pumpy reminding me some moments of the past, when Detroit tech house was ruling the world. Promising release in one of the best labels of the market!

Mobilee Back to Back Remixes Part I & II

Mobilee Back to Back lovers looking to take a lick from the ladle of Miss Jools’ upcoming Back to Back Vol. 3 compilation CD are in store for some extra flavor stirred in from vol. 3 remix artists, Nick Curly and Efdemin (mobilee 048) and D´Julz and Christian Burkhardt (mobilee 049). This 4 amazing producers deliver some of the most refined mnml u can have! Massive production, unmissable to all our readers

Nick Curly of 8Bit and Cécille Records boldly pulls the background beats of “Diva” forward, creating an explosion of cheerful melody. A central figure of the Mannheim sound, Curly has a knack for fresh releases and trippy sound. The B-side of this teaser welcomes Efdemin remixing „Moved feat. Prosumer“, a track softly bringing deeper, loungy house melodies into swing. While some artists only go skin deep, Efdemin goes deeper with a sense of detail and abstractness. Both artists have finely remixed the cream of the crop of Sebo K’s best releases. ”Diva” (mobilee043) received widespread acclaim from a variety of publications, placing in Resident Advisor’s ”Top 30 tracks of 2008,’ in Mixmag at 25, Beatportal at four and in Beatport as the eighth ranking house track of the year. “Moved feat. Prosumer” was placed at number 14 in De:Bug back in 2006. The carefully hand-picked Sebo K tracks are just an exclusive teaser for what’s in store for the entire CD (Mobilee Back to Back Vol. 3)

tracklisting:

a1. Sebo K – Diva (Nick Curly Remix)
b1. Sebo K – Moved feat. Prosumer (Efdemin Remix)

Mobilee#048
Rls Date: 16.02.2009

D’Julz of Ovum, Pokerflat and Intacto Records remixed GummiHz’s 2007 one-of-kind release and turned it into nothing short of a dance floor phenomenon. Of course, nothing less could be expected from a man who has been around the world and back since 1992 playing in the most legendary clubs before the most legendary scensters. D’Julz certainly has the qualification and experience of what it takes to make a party a paaarty!
Christian Burkhardt of Oslo, raum…musik and Remote Area Records took one of Anja Schneider’s more mellow and somber tunes from her spooky Beyond the Valley album, which ranked third in the charts of Groove Magazine, and give it a powerful face lift. The hard baseline and repetitive foot-stomping beat is exactly the kind of techno flair that Burkhardt embodies in his music.

a1. GummiHz – Los Los (D´Julz Remix)
b1. Anja Schneider – Get Away (Christian Burkhardt Remix)

Miss Jools mixes the 3rd Mobilee’s ‘Back To Back’ series

b2bv3-frontcover-rgb-300dpi The third time is, indeed, always a charm and Back to Back Vol. 3, mobilee’s third installment of the Back to Backcompilation series, proves just that!

Back to Back Vol. 3 combines the id, ego and superego of the selected 2008 tracks produced by mobilees, remixed by various other artists and then mixed again by Miss Jools in a 2-disc spectacular: CD1 is an unmixed selection of 2008 mobilee tracks, all handpicked by Miss Jools, while CD2 welcomes a list of her favorite producers to remix their picks of the mobilee pack with an additional Miss Jools spin. Inside, a vivacious mixture of deep house tracks, loopy house tools, and down right funky and groovy tracks can be heard. The evolution of the Back to Back compilation series has greatly transpired since the Vol. 1 mobilee-only in-house remix session by Anja Schneider. GummiHz mixed together around 30 tracks, creating loops, editing mobilee tracks and using various cool tools on Vol. 2 and now Miss Jools has invited talents from the likes of Cassy, Tobias, Nick Curly, Dinky, D’Julz, Efdemin, Christian Burkhardt, Vincenzo, Sven Tasnadi and Solomun, extending the musical preference.

“Each artist that is a part of the compilation has their own unique individual style which I admire and respect in their productions and which also reflects largely what I play in my own DJ sets. This being the reason to bring these artists together and collaborate for the compilation,” said Miss Jools. Miss Jools, aka Berlin-based Julia Porter, has been on the grind ever since she left London and joined the ranks of mobilee in the summer of 2008. And she’s been successfully winnings the hearts of Berlin’s top players in a short time, not to mention, landing the role of the 3rd Back to Back artist. “Following on from Anja and Gummihz’s previous B2Bs was a hard act to follow, but a great challenge for me.
Mobilee has achieved so much over the past years, and has such an impressive catalogue of amazing music from all their artists”

Avid electronic music listeners will be treated to valleys of sounds beyond minimal with hip-twisting tracks like Sebo K’s ‘Diva’, a remix of Pan-Pot’s genius wonder, ‘Charly’ and Miss Jools’ latest track ‘La Luna’ original or remixed, including many others mixed by Miss Jools’ posse. The greatest thing about this compilation is that the work from every mobilee producer from this past year is featured either in original or remixed versions.
